Groundwork for a Squat

For many adults, comfortable squatting is just a memory – they neither attempt to squat, nor experiment with movements that might get them to whatever part of a squat is realistic for them. Of course, in the Feldenkrais world we know that all human functions can be improved. Are you ready to improve?

This lesson allows a careful and gentle exploration of hip movements that lead to squatting. You don’t have to be able to squat to enjoy the lesson, nor do you have to attempt to squat at any time during the lesson. You may discover something about walking, weight bearing, or sitting. And as a bonus, because your hips will be unweighted for most of the lesson, you may have new insights about your back or hip joints. The lesson includes movements that often are used by people who have sciatic symptoms.
